Apple Event - March 25/19

Apple unveiled their new subscription services today at their event. Looks like 3 new ways to pay Apple monthly for content.

- They have a gaming subscription service that features 100+ games - seems super small

- Apple pay credit card

- Some news aggregation platform + magazines

- and the big one was the new Apple TV content

Apple did not give any prices that I saw and I am guessing the TV price will be hefty and they will justify it by the caliber of people they brought out at the event. Spielberg, Anniston, Steve Carell, Oprah and more. Not sure why Apple has gotten so full of themselves, I read one quote on the CNET live blog from Tim Cook "We think we contribute something important to our culture and society through content and storytelling" and then follows with "create a new service unlike anything done before". What? The whole think looks like Netflix or Amazon Prime. Apple is just jumping into the game, pushing a lot of money into it make themselves relevant. Some of the shows certainly looked interesting but I serious doubt I will be paying Apple for their TV service, I have enough already and I am guessing Apple will have that premium price tag.

When will Apple actually get back to hardware and software that actually help and increase productivity? They seem completely out of touch with that market. The Mac Pro is a great example of them off in their own world and probably patting themselves on the back about how amazing it is.

Must have missed the big announcement. There's a working/usable Mac Pro?

No, that was my point for them being way out there and not connecting with pro users. The garbage can Mac Pro was a joke that even Apple admitted was not a good idea. They supposedly care about the pro community but still have yet to make the best Mac Pro ever yet.

Apples iPhone sales are disappointing, so they're pushing the recurring revenue model. A big bore of an event, delivered by a big bore. Cook needs to be replaced by a visionary.

Apple has started to think of themselves as the artist rather then the maker of the best tools for the artist.

Apple is not pushing the envelope or even trying to innovate with phones anymore. We are getting that from Samsung and other companies out of Asia. Foldable screens, FAST wireless charging, no notch, rounded corners to look like there is no bezel. In screen finger print scanners and more. The way it looks right now my exclusive usage of iPhones might be done as I find the competition to have much more interesting devices. I am also not as hooked into Apple's eco system anymore. Rarely use iTunes unless it is for some songs I have that I cannot get from my streaming service.

It was underwhelming, but I admit I like Apple News(+) so far. Wife and I will probably keep it.

I remember being delighted by new capabilities I was finding in Apple products and software--obvious improvements. That hasn't happened in a long time. In fact, I'm more often looking for capabilities that have been removed or disabled.

I was the same, I was excited with each new release because they did things that made my life easier professionally and for just overall efficient use. I remember comparing Keynote to Powerpoint, it would take 2 clicks to do something simple in keynote where powerpoint would take 4 or 5. It was little things like that that made it a dream to use. Apple has caught up with Microsoft in this regard over complicating things and as you said removing features that are so very basic. Save As is now a confusing mess.

Apple had an event? What did they break , stop supporting or become incompatible with now?
