Apple Store Gift Card-Black Friday

Ordered an iMac on Black Friday and received a $210 Apple Store Gift Card along with it. The iMac is now in the “preparing to ship”stage and the gift card is still in the “order in progress” stage. When does Apple actually email such gift cards? At the actual shipment of product purchased? I’d like to use that card ASAP and I don’t believe there’s any way of retrieving the card number beforehand, is there?

Just wondering does anyone know if the gift card can be used to purchase Applecare for the iMac or MacBook Pro if it is what you purchased?

My guess is yes.
According to this, not online though. Only in store.

Typical Apple, they make finding the correct answer to simulate the pain of pulling teeth.

But it looks like yes maybe possible...

Apple Store gift cards are different from iTunes cards and can be redeemed for AppleCare / AppleCare+.

If you recently received a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or similarly valuable piece of hardware, you can visit an Apple Store or go online and enroll in AppleCare. Best of all, you can use your gift card towards the purchase. [<— Note comment in BOLD]
While the exact policy and price differ depending on the device you buy it for, it’s a pretty worthwhile investment—particularly for iPhone owners.

PS: I didn't want to see you having a lone discussion all by yourself, and that's getting pretty bad when you start answering your own questions yourself. ;-)
