Refurbished Airport Extreme

Hello All,

Has anyone seen the Gen 6 Airport Extreme on the refurbished page of Apple.ca? I'm wondering how much they cut the price. The cut on the Time Capsule is significant and tempting but I don't really need the Time Capsule. I'm wondering if I should wait for the Extreme to pop up on the refurb page or pull the trigger on the time capsule...

Your thoughts/observations?

Thanks,
Kevin

Airport Extremes do pop up but they don't last very long. If you're looking for one, you should check the refurbished page fairly regularly. The price, when I bought mine, was$169.00 so you save $80.00.

If you buy the Airport Extreme or the Time Capsule really depends on whether you want the storage capacity of the Time Capsule or not.

I use Refurb Me to send me alerts when I'm waiting for items to hit the store. It works really well but when you get an alert you need to act fast.

If one doesn't need the options that the Time Capsule can provide, I personally wouldn't recommend one and just recently helped yet another client replace their's that died and actually greatly outlasted it's expected lifespan compared to what most others got, if one searches the 'net.

And maybe that was because I kept insisting they never put anything on top of it and kept it elevated on some pencils for added ventilation for cooling.

Reading this thread reminds me I still have packed and ready to ship this Airport Extreme:

Hate to see it sitting there doing nothing, so if anyone wants to make me an offer, keeping in mind it would cost me about $20 to ship it, fire away.

I've tried using this but it never notifies me. I've tried with several different items but I never hear anything even when they are available...

I happened to pop over to the refurb page yesterday afternoon and there was a 6th gen extreme $169 so I snatched it.
