So during WWDC, i was praying the rumoured 12" rMBA to be official, but when I heard nothing, i was like... MEH. Oh well. Well, it seems to be more substantiated now:

I guess this lap purchase might now be hold.

The official return of the 12". wild. what will the resolution be on a 12" retina? I'm assuming less than the 13". so 2200?

Where will this fit in the MB lineup?

The 12 probably will be a replacement of the 11 MBA.
It would compete very well against a Dell Latitude E7240

Hopefully if they do make a 4K monitor (or iMac), they at least have a matte option. Otherwise, it's a completely wasted product -- those high-gloss monitors are almost impossible to calibrate for correct colour.

That 12" that has been rumoured for months now has probably been getting pushed back due to Intel constantly pushing back the release of Broadwell.

Ya. I think the 11 might be walking the plank. Makes no real sense. 11 is too close to 12, and don't see them killing that 13". It's great size IMHO.

I think the Air needs to move to Retina as well. Do recall that Safari 8 has adopted the srcset tag, so they'll be able to render retina images.

It would be pointless at this time to have a laptop in the lineup that has no retina capabilities.

They have in MBP line, and need to add it to the Air. Just my 2¢

Just hate the idea of having to hold on to this dinosaur (literally & figuratively) of a 17" MBP i have. @ least I know i'm pouring not one more red ¢ in it - whether they exist or not.

If he 12 comes around, the 13 probably would move to 14" in the same frame size than the 13. Which would make an amazing retina display like the dell latitude E7440.

Nah. I doubt they'd introduce another MBA.

I see the 11 vanishing... and in a complete culling, maybe the 13. But here's what i'm thinking:

11" is just way small right now. a retina in 11 would be a hard to justify.

12" rMBA makes sense, and should replace the 11.

I could actually see the 13" MPB vanishing, sending those users to either the 13" MBA or 13" rMBP - which would officially end the era of opticals on Apple laptops. And since the 13" MBP is non retina, they can go to the 13"MBA - for better resolution on top of that. Which is the more reason why I think it makes a great laptop in the lineup (13" MBA).

a 14" would be too close to the 15" rMBP which I think is a staple, for video guys esp. They won't downgrade to a 13" and the 17" died with the meteor strike years back, so I think a 14" rMBA or rMBP doesn't really make sense. I can't see Apple unearthing that one (for those who recall the iBooks). Again, seeing that I feel that every hardware addition from here on out HAS to be retina, a 14" retina doesn't make sense. You have one avail in either direction.

So the future lineup I see looking like this:

Starters:

12" rMBA
13" MBA
13" rMBP
15" rMBP

Roster cuts:

11" MBA
13" MBP
