Looking for a pile of iPads

working on an art project that requires a bunch of iPads. i'll need about 8 to start.

ideally, i source all of them from one person but, failing that, i'll pick them up as singles. anyone have any leads?

specifically i'm looking for:

1st gen. 16 gig wifi would do fine. condition can be variable as long as their screens are clean and they are capable of video playback.

i'd also be happy to get them as gen. 2 if that's an option that doesn't break the bank.

I would put an ad out of those gen 1s. They're hard to sell/move if anyone still has one and is looking to sell them, seeing that you can't upgrade the OS and they have no camera either. THAT would be the best attempt in my eyes. Not sure where you might find a whole pile. Good luck either way.

Nothing to do with ehmac offers, but be aware of the recent scam I came across earlier today for a site offering a pile of "complete new but opened iPad boxes that can't be sold normally" and almost free.

Its a SCAM!!

Sorry that I can't find the info or link in my Safari history, but a local Facebook friend almost got caught up with it today.

Of course, if you have a gen. 1 that you want to unload, feel free to pm me. . .

Ha. I also have one that i'm keeping though. I've not played as many games as before, and I keep tons of reading material on mine (books for days), read the NYT a bunch and some fun things like music production apps that still work well. Although I'm putting my hands on a mini soon enough....

bump.

no one has any leads on off-lease people (or others) who may carry iPad inventory?

you might have better luck just going through kijiji. Not sure who would have 8 in a household. You would need to find a school board or some company that had them for their employees and has upgraded. Finding 8 on kijiji from various sellers should not be hard. I keep an iPad 1 around for games and movies when friends come over with their kids. Its crazy how much sharper the retina screens are though, the iPad 1 feels so antiquated.

Maybe give Apple Customer Service (Canada) and explain your project to them, and just maybe they would be willing to help you... ???

Maybe some free advertising for them or whatever...
