Idea for external mini graphics: MXM

People are using that Thunderbolt for all kinds of makeshift expansions... surely Apple could create and offer a smaller, cleaner, "cooler" version! Instead of bulky PC cards, why not tap into the laptop/integrated market and use an MXM module in a compact matching unit?

Imagine this ATI HD6970 - 2GB GDDR5

...in a cool case like this!

An excellent idea

indeed-an excellent idea, Blue Max. I have seen Thunderbolt "expansion chassis" released, where you could mount a PCI-E card in there and hook it up to your Thunderbolt equipped mac. However, I have no idea what works and what doesn't, and what Apple's up to. I have seen something like this for the PC laptop, something you can plug in for better graphics, a turbocharger if you will. Maybe we can do with soundcards and other stuff.....

great idea....now if we can only bring it to fruition.....
