Thanks Macfury.

Here's what I had been trying to post.

Subject: iTunes 11 shortest lived Apple app on my SL Mac ever

OK, I'll try posting this again, earlier attempts failed.

Original Subject: iTunes 11 shortest lived Apple app on my SL Mac ever

I had trouble posting here previously so I'll try again, but to save double posting you can read my #46 post at the iOS forum that I seldom visit, where I noticed there was already long iTunes 11 subject:

It's sure a strange one and as I posted to the other thread:

Just testing - please ignore if it gets posted - ehMac.ca

Maybe any topic with "iTunes 11" in the subject is taboo now.

Thanks for your help, greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to provide some heads up warning about iTunes 11 that I experienced that may help others avoid. ie: don't use or update iTunes 10.x to iTunes 11 if things are working as one wants.

BTW: I had previously tried to paste/copy/paste between Text Edit and the Safari ehmac page in case there was possibly some character problems but that didn't work for me.

Again I appreciate your help.

"So how much louder is that?"
"Well, it's one louder, isn't it."

Please explain, exactly, what about iTunes 11 you think is bloated?

I'll reserve my judgement for now, only did it about an hour ago, but can someone explain to me why I'm getting grayed out double entries (with a little cloud icon) of some songs?

A "new IT 11 feature" perhaps?? ;)

But try restarting your Mac just in case.

Some users are finding that doing so helps get some things back to somewhat normal user IT experience from what I've read.

Or even better, do a more thorough shut down and reboot.

Clearly it has something to do with iCloud, but what? It's no longer grayed out and the icon has a little a (download) arrow on it. I'm guessing it has something to do with payed for songs.

One feature I like is that you can play songs directly from the cloud, even if they're not on your machine, and even if you don't have iTunes Match. That's actually pretty handy. Saves up some hard drive space.

Ditto for most (though not all) purchased TV shows and movies, and saves MUCH more space than music. I freed up approx. 160GB, though there is a slight delay in the beginning of playback as it seems to buffer a bit first, you will likely need to have a fairly high speed connection to stream a 1080P program without much buffering. Exactly how much buffering seems to depend on the size of the show, but worst case scenario I've seen so far was 10 seconds for an Episode of Band of Brothers that is nearly 3GB. YMMV depending on how fast your connection is.

Also the easiest way to tell if a show/movie/song is eligible for this is to turn on the iCloud status column in list view for that media type. If it says "Purchased" you are good to go to stream from the cloud, if not it will say "ineligible".

iCloud, Cloudee, Other clouds are fine with unlimited internet slash data connections,
But for most of us that don't have unlimited data on our portable devices,
I'd have to say...We're not quite there yet, Unlike our brethren south of the border.

Also on a side note...Knock it off with the nit picking already.

It's really boring
