You seem to be quoting the US/AT&T rules. I've seen no such statements for Canada.

Poor American's are still unable to tether their iphone to a computer. It's true, nothing has been announced in Canada yet. Rogers could do something they have never done and provide customers with a fair package or tethering rules (iphone to ipad). Given Rogers' track record, I'll believe it when I see it.

Personally, I hope I am wrong and Rogers releases a great data package. Would change my plan from buying wifi only to getting a 3G iPad.

I tether mine through bluetooth all the time... It's great - I can sit in a bar and work!

It's not just AT&T on this one. Apple has not included any means of tethering an iPad to an iPhone. I'm sure they could do it but they haven't. Tethering in this fashion cannibalizes the sales of 3G units. Apple and the service providers would much rather see mutli-device plans and sell higher priced devices.

I use up my full 6G every month with my laptop tethered. In my customer survey reply to Apple following my iPad purchase I said the one thing needed was tethering. This is especially so given we can tether in Kanuckistan. One can only hope Apple sees the light.

+1 for what Macified said above. There's no way Apple will allow tethering your iPhone to your iPad. They made a 3G version of the iPad so that people who want 3G connectivity can buy that one, and everyone else can buy the Wifi-Only one. There's no incentive for them (and a dis-incentive in the form of cannibalizing sales of the 3G iPad like Macified said).

And it's also not an AT&T Rule that you can't tether your iPhone to the iPad. It's an Apple rule:

Steve Jobs on iPad tethering with iPhone: "No."

I use MYWI on my iPhone and "tether" it to my iPad all the time. You do have to jailbreak your iPhone of course but it is reason enough on it's own
