So my brother, who is a lazy procrastinator, hadn't even thought about looking for the iPod skins I wanted for Christmas. It was the speck three pack of rubber ones, for the third gen iPod.
I go to Future Shop yesterday looking for them (figured I'd buy 'em and then he'd pay the money - that way I KNOW I'll get what I'd like) and they weren't on the shelves, only the 4th gen ones were. So I asked, and they went and got them. Instead of $45 for the three pack, they were $19.99.
!!! Less than half price, because this generation of iPod isn't carried anymore or shipped or whatever. I couldn't believe my luck :-D

I went to the downtown Montreal store (to not name it ) and not only did they only have the 4th gen ones on display, but the sales rep told me with a very convinced look in his eyes that they would fit a 3rd gen.
even after showing him the ipod...
