I recently moved from St. John's, NL to Philadelphia, PA. I spent three weeks debating my wireless service and then on Thursday (my birthday) I decided to talk to Apple about an iPhone. I am now the owner of a 32GB iPhone 3GS and I absolutely love it.
I have had zero network issues with voice or 3G data and the data plan is unlimited. I have not dropped a call in the few days I've been using it and I've been all around PA and NJ. Next weekend I'll go to DC and VA and test that area. I think all the AT&T bashing is a bit overblown.
The only issue I've run into is that AT&T charges text messages to Canada as international. I found this weird as Bell and Telus never charged me extra for texts to the US and Verizon never charged me extra to text to Canada. I called AT&T and they said "Our software is more sophisticated and can pinpoint where it was sent, and Canada is a different country so...". So my answer is forget text, I'll email. I have unlimited data.
Is there anything I should know/try as a new iPhone user?
