The app is free, why not give it a try? If it doesn't some how do what you want it to do, let us know.

I use Skype almost daily -- anytime I need to make a call outside my local calling area and I have WiFi available -- at 1.2 (Euro) cents a minute, it sure beats the charges from Fido for long distance (35 cents a minute).

I downloaded my copy from the US store. Google for instructions on how to do this. It works beautifully.

Truphone is also good -- and available in the Canadian store -- but their rates are more expensive -- 5 cents CDN a minute, if I recall correctly.

I do the same. I have skype from the US store. My iPhone is jailbroken. I downloaded VioPover3G from cydia and that makes the phone think it is on wifi when it is on 3G when using specific programs including skype. The voice quality over 3G is excellent and I never have to worry about keeping track of minutes used because I use skype to make all outgoing calls. I got the North America plan for skype - I think I paid something around $20 for the whole year.

Can Skype be running in background while your iphone is asleep? That is, so you can receive calls on Skype without having Skype open waiting for one.
