Can you still buy a 1st Gen iPhone (new)?

I notice on apple.com, there is only the 3G iPhone. What did Apple do with all the leftover 1st Gens? Can they be purchased anywhere?

Just craigslist and ebay, I assume. And, mayhaps, a flea market.

Apple ran out of stock on first-generation models. It's either refurb (if you can find one), auction sites, or a trip to buy an iPhone 3G. Remember: you can use most normal normal Rogers/Fido plans (except for prepaid) with the new iPhone now, so you don't have to be locked into paying $60 minimum.

The reason I want one is to have a world phone with WiFi. Unless someone hacks the 3G fast, I was going to buy a 1st gen.

As for travelling to buy the 3G, isn't the policy in the U.S. the same as Canada now? That is, you can't buy a 3G without activation?

Maybe not at Apple/AT&T, but they will find their way onto ebay and there will likely be some local sellers in Buffalo (assuming you live in GTA)
