The iPod nano seems to have hit a sweet spot for many but may cannibalize shuffle and iPod (photo) sales. What are your buying intentions for the next 6 months?
I'm likely to order a Nano 2 Gig. Finally, what a LOT of people were looking for in size and features is here. Impossibly small, it's perfect! And BLACK too! w00t!
No matter how sweet it would be to have a nano, I can't get over the price. For $80 more then the 4Gb nano you get 5 times more space.
5 TIMES. 4 x 5 = 20Gb!
for only $80 more.
5 TIMES!
If the nano worked with the camera adapter (as in to download photos directly from a camera) I'dve ordered one already. As it is, I'll stick with my mini.
Yesterday on the ADC Select store they had the 4GB model for 239$, so I was ready to pony up for a new system and get a good discount on the nano as well... today the ADC price is 269!
anyways, its still a sweet unit, love that piano black. too bad about the camera adapter.
Can you use the A/V output and slideshow feature like the iPod photo?

No ... unfortunately, you cannot display the photos on a TV like a full-sized iPod. BTW I find that I very rarely use that capability even though I have it.
The same thing was said when the iPod minis came out. Everyone was commenting how they could get a better deal if they bought a regular iPod instead. Well the sale numbers of the iPod mini showed different, so based on past comments, price and storage from Apple on the iPod minis, that the iPod Nano will smoke the sales of all other iPods to come this year.

That's certainly what this poll seems to indicate. Add in the buyers of the G1-3 iPods looking to replace their units, and the nano is looking to maintain the growth rate. The fact that the memory is actually lower than the mini is easily outbalanced by the colour screen and the sheer size and sexy design of the nano.
The black model seems to be extremely popular ... it would be interesting to see the color choices of the people who are going to purchase one/have purchased one.
For myself, I am torn ... both colors are great ... leaning more towards the black.
It will be interesting to see if Colorware will start offering different color options on the nano.
