NY Teen killed for iPod

NEW YORK (AP) -- Two teenagers were under arrest Sunday on suspicion of killing another teen for his iPod portable music player, police said.
The boys were facing charges of murder, robbery and weapons possession in the death of 15-year-old Christopher Rose, police said.

This is just sickening. What we're they thinking? We're their lives and the victim's life only worth $500?

Remember when kids used to get killed for their Jordan basketball shoes?

While this is very sad, it's just an updated version of the same story...

The US army evaluation of relative worth

Quote:
An American officer felt no shame as he informed me that the lives of 800,000 Rwandans were only worth risking the lives of 10 American troops.:
Told directly to Canadian General Romeo Dallaire head of the UN Rwanda mission.
The US sent no troops during the genocide.

Do ya think maybe the attitude is catching??

I'm disgusted...Really... Why did they kill him??? They could stole it instead. (not that's a good option too, but to get to the point of killing the victim for an iPod???? For god sake, what's wrong with USA???)

MacDoc - What does this kid's death have to do with the American army psyche? A couple of years back we had a 16 year old die at school after being stabbed because he owed someone $50[1]. Equating a societal problem to the actions of one government sickens me.

The problem is not so much the object (iPod in this case), but the reason why this happens.

1 - Some may remember Sammer Jabber who was killed at Lester B. Pearson High School about 5 years ago. I believe he was 16, all I know is that it rocked both the Calgary Board of Education and a lot of parents in town.

Chealion,

He's only got one brush. What are you going to do?

I think the worst part of all this is that it's only getting press because it was an iPod. I've read about kids in L.A. getting killed for their shoes in the past, but it was back page, not front page news.

Amazing? I don't think so.... Look around. Stupidity is endemic and epidemic... People do stupid things all the time.

I've seen warnings about wearing the standard white iPod earphones because they give away the presence of an iPod.
