Old iMac for Granddaughters pictures

We have purchased a new iMac and I was wondering the best way to set up the old one (2009 24" using 10.11.6). Our son and daughter-in-law want the old mac just for photos of our granddaughter. I want to keep the existing OS X and not have to install 10.5.6 which shipped with the mac when new. Can I do this by setting up new Admin account in their name and their password and then deleting the current Admin account? That would give them access to all the installed apps but not give them access to any info already on the computer now, is this correct? Just looking for quick and easy way to get this set up for them to use without causing Grandpa a lot of stress and frustration having to deal with computer stuff. Thanks in advance for any and all ideas.

Jack

Can be some problems if you change the name of the main admin account.

Better to just do a secure erase of any and all personal documents, and disable the Mail account.

I think that would work the opposite to the way you're planning.

The admin should have access to everything on the mac, but third party commercial applications (that require a registration key) that are registered to a different user, may not work with the new admin.

If you need those applications to work then I'd leave the admin account alone. I'm thinking of applications like Photoshop, Microsoft Office, etc.

Apps I was talking about are just the ones that come with the Mac. Photos for sure. They only want the old Mac for pictures.

Yep keep the main admin account and create a standard account for the granddaughter.
