Received my iPad Pro 11" yesterday. After years of using an iPad Mini it is taking some getting used to with the bigger size. The screen is incredible, big improvements since my 2015 Mini.
The bar at the bottom to swipe up to get to the home screen is quick and responsive. I did find in one app that the bar was actually in the way of some info, can't remember what app, though that would really be the fault of the app designer I think. I did find the home bar a bit annoying at times. When watching a video it would remain at the bottom of the screen, not a big deal because it was not in the video but it was white on black so stuck out. Hoping with iOS 13 that dark mode will resolve this so it is not completely in your face.
The USB-C connection while nice if you have a newer Mac was a bit annoying when I was going to plug it into my 5K iMac that does not have USB-C. Would need another adapter. Will skip that and just plug into my MacBook Pro at home. I picked up the Apple smart case, the one without the keyboard. It is nice, feels like all the rest which is good because I like the ergonomics of it. Simple, snaps on with magnets seems to work well and like that it covers the back as well. All in all pretty impressed though the size is an adjustment. If they had updated the iPad Mini with a similar modern design I would have probably gone that route.

I have the previous gen Pro with Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard. It’s my daily driver at work for personal stuff, and it’s fantastic. I feel it’s done a good job of supplanting jobs I would normally have done on the iMac/MacBook pro. Have to 256Gb, and I would struggle to fill it.
I’ve been on iPadOS beta for a month now and it’s a huge leap from iOS 12. Might upgrade soon, i have the newer iMac with USB-C so I can see some advantage there especially with continuity.
EDIT: Yes, swipe with stylus is annoying. I have oily skin so I try to avoid touching the screen as much as possible, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to allow the stylus to swipe in menus, though, I haven’t checked out accessibility yet.

I have never beta tested an iOS before. My iPad is not really for pro use so not too concerned about jumping in right now. If I install iPad Beta OS is it a simple upgrade when it is finally released or do I have to clear and install iPad OS fresh?

If I recall, last time once the GM Beta was release the week prior to launch, and was the release version. The next iOS update was from the public channel. That is as long as you leave the beta program before the next iOS 13 beta drops.
