I'm coming in a bit late here, but you might want to try calling Apple Customer Support Help desk as an old friend did not long ago. He also had some troubles with his old Apple account and a new iDevice and he couldn't get what he thought was his password working, and got all the iOS hassles stopped. He said they were quite helpful. Maybe they can do the same for you.
I always thought that such info was usually kept in one's Keychain Access.
