Just like the last time someone asked, no new news. No old news, either. When there is new news, all the usual news sites will tell you the news long before you'll find that news out from ehMac.

Last month, there was some speculation that Apple's home automation initiative, HomeKit, might be powered by an updated AppleTV:

Apple's HomeKit hub may already be in your house | Macworld

All we know at this point is that Apple intends to release HomeKit with iOS 8 in the fall. No (Apple) hardware has been confirmed.

Not Tuesday but this coming Friday it seems.

Only because my eldest son is bringing a new to us Apple TV for my wife's birthday with his upcoming visit apparently. That will make it a "new Apple TV", no??

Hopefully as an Authorized Apple Dealer he gets it at a reduced price but Apple has already reduced the retail price in Europe it seems and the other rumours still seem to stay the same:
"What we donít know is when exactly it will be released ó or what new content Apple will bring to market with the device. ..."

No news for a new AppleTV, but lots of good news for enhancements and apps for the existing AppleTV (even better!). CNBC has just added a news app:

And a few more it seems:
"Apple on Tuesday said it grew its lineup of channels on its Apple TV set-top box, this time with CNBC, Fox Now, and two regional channels. ..."
Apple TV adds CNBC, Fox Now - CNET

As a recent newbie Apple TV user, do these new programs just automatically show up when it's turned on?

I'm still fighting to get it all setup properly and working via our Harmony Remote 520 and just getting our Sharpe TV to go to the correct input when changing any Activity remains as the last stumbling block.

Maybe some members have a solution???

Sadly, yes they do. Apple does allow you to rearrange and/or hide the crap (of which there is SO MUCH) that you don't use.

Apple TV: Arranging and hiding icons on the main menu

Thanks for that and I had found that option and got a lot either hidden or moved to a handier location.

Maybe one day my wife will get around to and find time to watch some that she's already marked to watch.

I finally got rid of the Apple TV problem getting the wrong IP address from our Apple Express and I had to keep restarting it to get the correct address as it was plugged into our Yamaha 5.1 receiver that had a switched AC receptacle. It now on it's own AC receptacle and stays on all the time, and doesn't even use one watt. So that one less problem overcome and just one more to get resolved with the proper TV input.

The Apple TV also gets used for just playing music, whether from cable or our iMac iTunes or iPad's Music or Tunein Radio.app.
