Control docked ipod w/ iPad?

Hi,
I have an old iPod touch that I keep more or less permanently docked in my receiver. I'd like to be able to skip a song or change the volume, playlist, etc., from my iPad mini. Is there an app that will do this?

I saw this thread,
http://www.ehmac.ca/all-ios-iphone-i...ol-iphone.html

But that's not the sense of control I meant; i mean more like remote control.

Cheers,

Michael

I don't have or use any iDevice but it looks like Apple's "Remote" software should do what you want.

"Remote is a free, fun, and easy-to-use app that turns your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into a remote control. So wherever you are in your house, you can control your computerís iTunes library and your Apple TV with a tap or flick of a finger. And Remote has been redesigned to be in perfect sync with the new iTunes, giving you new ways to browse your library and see upcoming songs with Up Next."

Apple - Apps - Remote

Edit:
I believe a friend uses his Logitech Harmony remote control with his docked iDevice, or maybe this:

But maybe a bit of overkill.

Uhh, nope.

You can't control an iPod from another iOS device with the Remote. There might be a third party application that would work when installed on both devices, but I haven't heard of any.

OK, so maybe this can if the more compatible older Tango Remote 5.1.6 version can be found and the old iPod touch iOS is compatible.

"Tango is an advanced music player for the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad with a unique feature - remote control. All it takes is another iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad and a wi-fi network. Tango manages all the existing iTunes music, podcasts, audio books, etc. available on the remote device via your homes' wi-fi network."
Blue Atlas Technology Announces a Major Upgrade of Its Highly Acclaimed Tango Remote Control Software for the iPhone, iPod/Touch, and iPad

Nominated for "Best iPhone/iPad Music App of 2011" at TUAW! Tango Remote is a fantastic way to wirelessly control music and video between iPads, iPhones and iPod touches. Connect one device to a stereo or TV and use another to play, pause, skip, adjust volume and more. Stop walking across the room!

NOTICE: This update [v. 5.2] is not compatible with the 1st and 2nd Generation iPhone/iPod Touch. "

Just a thought and I know it's not what the OP asked, but and and assuming they're using an Apple Universal Dock, the $20.00 Apple Remote could always be used, and maybe Velcro attached or at least kept handy, and yes all Logitech Harmony remote controls can also add any Apple Universal Dock to the settings to control such an iPod.

Opps, forgot to include the Apple Remote link:
