Bell vs Visual Voicemail on iPhones not purchased through Bell
I made the switch from Fido to Bell for a $75 promo plan which was supposed to include visual voicemail. When the switch was complete, the Voicemail button only dialed up Bell's messaging system. I called Bell to ask them if there was an issue. I was told that since my phone was unlocked, I would be unable to have Visual Voicemail. I tried to explain that my phone was not 'unlocked' or jailbroken, but was purchased from the Apple Store as an iPhone not locked to any provider. The customer service rep as was insistent that there was nothing that I could do with a phone not purchased through Bell.
I am curious if anyone else has had a similar experience; or if there are people in this situation that do have visual voicemail working on an unlocked iPhone. Any input would be appreciated.
