Iphone 5 car mount

Hi, i'm looking for some car mounts for the iphone 5. I'm ok with universal ones that can be adjusted, it doesn't have to be specifically for the iphone 5. I just don't want anything that looks overly bulky (rocketfish one on @ bestbuy is an example of too bulky). Something that can be tilted horizontally and vertically. I'm willing to spend for build quality, instead of buying the cheapest one. The mount only needs to hold the phone, i don't need it to charge the phone.

I'm planning to use it the phone as a gps, and would prefer vent mount over window mount. I've read about the proclip, but its car specific, which i don't want. I also read about the clingo. I've read some bad reviews about the clingo though.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

I highly recommend RAM Mounts. The phone cradle and the mount that attaches to your car are sold separately. when you say you do not want car-specific, is it to be able to move it to a new vehicle when you sell the current one, or because you use multiple vehicles on a routine basis? If it's the former, I'd recommend looking at one that can connect to a radio mounting bolt in your dash or something similar. Installation can be a bit involved, but they're super solid, and can be installed in almost any vehicle.

I like the various Arkon mounts. Amazon sells them. The seat bolt mounted one is great. Puts the phone close and doesn't tie up cup holders, etc. On all of the device mounts can be removed and switched to different models. I was using the 3GS specific one, but just switched to the slim universal one for the iPhone 5, I also have the 7" tablet mount.

Thank you to everyone that made a suggestion. I think i'm going with the iottie.

I just saw some youtube videos, and i like what i see. You have a good point about the phone covering the vent. Thanks for suggestion. How much was shipping? And did you buy directly from the website?

Just ordered one through my imac. The price was $29.xx. So Its either the website doesn't work properly with the iPhone, or there might have been a glitch with the system.

Thanks again, Puccasaurus.

I presently use one of these magnetic mounts...

Tetrax Automotive GPS Mount | Canadian Tire

It works really well and is versatile as it works on horizontal or vertical vent fins. It looks great because when your device is attached, the mount is entirely hidden. I have recommended this mount to a few people who all find that it works well for them.

Drawbacks:

At $49.99, it's expensive. Canadian Tire periodically puts them on sale for around $27.99 though, just watch the flyer.

In the winter it might not be a great idea to have hot air blowing over the back of your phone, but I will say that it was not a problem with my 4S.

It ships with a couple of small mounting disks that need to stick to the back of your device, but Canadian Tire do not sell the discs separately.

For example, I used one disk to mount my old (now dead) Garmin GPS and the other on the back of my "Barely There" iPhone 4 case. I now have the iPhone 5 and need another disc to mount to the back of my super-slim iPhone 5 case.

Tetrax is an Italian company, if I recall. I suppose that I could try to order new discs directly from them, but I expect that'll be costly. I think that I'll wait for them to go on sale again, use some Canadian Tire money and buy a second unit that I can keep as a back-up or leave in my GF's car.

The mount is worth $30 bucks in my opinion but $49.99 is a bit rich.

Update: They evidently now sell the discs on their US site although they are currently out of stock. $8.99 for four mounting discs.
