the fact is NO ONE can buy them at the apple store. Yes we heard about your story, and perhaps that's the price listed on the invoice apple gave you for the replacement, but since they DO NOT sell them the value they list is moot.

Oops, my bad. Apparently this is the Classified section. Not sure why it showed up in the regular forums. Anyhow, hope you get your asking price. I have two ATV1's I paid way too much for when they first came out (like $200-300, as I recall), but since they have analog audio outs, I use both of them all the time as AirPlay devices for speakers.

But a fool and his money are soon parted, and there are plenty of fools out there. Have you tried Kijiji or eBay, BigBertha?
Uhhhh... This IS the classifieds section, this IS an ad... Price policing IS prohibitted in the classifieds.

I'm not sure what you are talking about, this thread is in the classifieds. The poster posted another thread awhile back about the value of an ATV2, this is a different thread.

Also, the ATV2's are not readily available in most retails stores, including most Apple stores. They are only stocking ATV3's. That combined with the ATV3 not be 'jailbreakable' has shot the value of them through the roof. The price might seem ridiculous for someone who bought one new, but that is what they are going for used pretty much everywhere.

Fair enough. Apologies once again. I read this post for the first time on my iPhone, where the Classifieds category does not make itself obvious and the For Sale: part of the post does not appear at all. Tapatalk just does things differently; 20 posts to a page compared to 10, for example. I hope you get your asking price, Big Bertha. Got a feeling you may want to re-list this in a fresh post, since this once has been littered now with all the banter.

Crazy as it seems, I found an Apple TV 3 on kijiji for 80 bucks basically brand new. And I just sold one of my Apple TV 2's for 250. People are buying them for this price. So his price isn't off. The market is there, maybe not here
