Well I ended up selling them.

Ended up emailing the buyer and telling him I changed my mind about the price, I was going to sell them for $300 for the pair but it's just wrong I feel to take advantage so sold them for $250. Enough to replace them with atv3's.

He kept asking if I was sure...haha

Just wrong I tell ya

Thinking of doing this same thing. Plex is awesome, and I love being able to just use the small remote and my TV and not have to bother with my computer.

However, Plex also seems to have to be updated and when it isn't it breaks! I always know when a new version of Plex Media Server or the ATV client are out, because my Plex acts up until I upgrade both. I don't like the hoops you have to jump through for XMBC to find your shares correctly, and I really don't like the built-in media player from Firecore.

So, my question is: does AirPlay Mirroring through ML via an ATV3 work well? would it stream a 1080p video and sound just fine? My iMac is wired and so is my ATV if that helps.

If it's flawless, I could give up the ATV2...

No sure about 1080p, it should in theory. I've been playing 720p video to my ATV3 through my Macbook Air with no issues, obviously wirelessly. That's why I sold one of my Apple TV 2's (since they're hot on the market right now.)

I haven't tried 1080p, as I plan on having my iMac do all the streaming to the ATV 3, and it'll be done wirelessly since the MacBook Air is doing it with no problems.
