strange mac pro problem

so far so good, but..that icon on the side of the Finder, when you open up Mac HD, under "places", well...it's still there. I've tried control-clicking on it, and all it does is bring up Sidebar Preferences. Irritating. Do I have to grab Onyx or something else to try and wipe it out? I also tried grabbing it and throwing it to the Trash....alas, no dice....Hmmm

OK, if you really don't want to see it there, (and the Finder is actually trying to make access easier for you,) with the HD window open, control-click or right-click in the sidebar, select "Open Sidebar Preferences", click the Sidebar icon at the top of the Sidebar Preferences window and un-check what you don't want to see under the Places list. Poof - it will disappear. Or should.

Is its icon actually showing in the Finder Preferences window, and if so, is there not a check box to uncheck??

Maybe you've got some sort of file sharing enabled??
