Asking and getting I guess are two different things, That's quite a bit for a 512 card.

Hello,
I've got an 8800 GT 512MB pulled from my Mac Pro 3,1 early 2008. It's your's for $50. Better someone use it and I get some cash, than it sit in my closet. I live in the GTA.

pm me

Um, don't the 1,1 and 2,1 Mac Pro's need 32biit cards? I thought I read that somewhere.....

You are aware, are you, that 1.1 Mac Pros will be capable of running Mavericks with SFOTT?
https://oemden.com/

Hell, they'll be even capable of running El Capitan. Just a question of finding the right UEFI 64 bit bootloader.
Get this:
https://github.com/Piker-Alpha/macosxbootloader

or

https://pikeralpha.wordpress.com/macosxbootloader/

Those will probably unlock 64 Bit vid cards for your Mac Pro, although I haven't the hardware to check it.
And probably not with all possibilities.

But possibly PC cards don't have to be reflashed anymore...

CUDA, QuartzExtreme, Open Gl, all out? Haven't even caught up yet...

Look for the ATI Radeon HD 5870 anyhow!

The best of luck!

Guys, I am running Snow Leopard with no desire to upgrade further. I bought this as a gaming machine and it doesn't matter what OS I have installed. Thanks for the heads up though on the possibilities though.
The 8800 should run fine I assume in place of the original 256 card.

Kelman, you can run Lion on on the 1,1 without workarounds--however it was incompatible with my HD3870.

I used the firmware upgrade to change my 1,1, to a 2,1, which made no measurable difference in anything.

Thanks Macfury, my only concern was the ability to run my old games with too new of an OS. Hoping with the 8800 all is well with less video lag and stutter with some of the graphics. Never thought of the firmware upgrade, is it still available/tough to do?
