My apologies.. the current Classified section does indeed suck.
I do care, and have been trying to put things in place to have a better Classified section.
The plan is, this month serious development starts on updating ehMac with some new forum software. This will also involve a new Classified section that will be a lot better. Items can be marked as sold, and/or will expire after a certain amount of time.
Things will be a lot better laid out, with clearer information, clear ways to contact the seller / buyer, have a reputation system for sellers/buyers, and many other good features.
There's no specific timeline how long it will take, once development is done, there will be a 1-2 month testing phase to make sure as many bugs as possible are squashed before we switch over.

But how does anyone know it is sold anyways if the seller never comes back to indicate it is sold? I just don't see how this is a site or admin problem.
If we could eliminate just the people who are begging for their ad to be marked "SOLD" it would be an improvement.

I believe we'll have an auto expiration on ads after a certain time as well, so if there is no activity (For example 30 days) the ad expires. Members will be able to manually re-list the item if it's not sold yet and they want to keep it listed.
The permissions for placing ads will probably be the same. After certain amount of days / post, members can post for free. There will probably be a small fee if someone wants to post an ad earlier.
There also might be some features to pay a fee to highlight an ad on the re-designed main-page but user levels (Like Silver, Gold and Lifetime) will have some features included.

Thanks for the update, ehMax! I always refer new Mac users to this site and encourage them to join. It is a forum that is useful for newbies, more experienced users and others who would like to learn more about the Mac/iProduct they own.
I too frequent the Classifieds and am mystified that almost everything is sold. It would be great to see a "marker" to indicate that the item has been sold.
But once something is sold can't it be archived? Perhaps after a month or so? That way we don't have to waste time perusing items already off the market.
