Powermac G4 not powering up

Hello everyone,

So I was using my Powermac G4 1.42Ghz earlier today and shut it down. About an hour later I went to turn it on, and the only way to get the boot cycle going was to hold the power button. Even then, it would boot half way then shut down. Now, whenever I press the power button it'll light up for a second, and then the monitor button would light up briefly, but no startup at all. Do I have a PSU failure?

If so how much can I get for the machine?

Powermac G4 1.42GHz (FW800)
2 GB RAM
Airport Extreme Card
128MB ATI Video Card
4 Port USB Hub Card

I also have the 17" Studio Display and hard drives (120GB & 320 GB), but they would have to be wiped somehow since they have data on them still.

Have you tried an Cuda button reset/replacement PRAM battery?

Otherwise, it sounds like the Power Supply is failing/has failed. I've seen late model MDD Power Mac G4s go for about $250-$300 or so, but the potentially bad PSU would drive down the value of course.

I posted a problem a year ago, but no one how any ideas. Every now and then, when I booted up or woke from sleep, I would lose wifi network settings, and time settings. I replaced the PRAM battery and everything as well.

Now as an update from yesterday, I was able to boot up successfully. So is this a PSU issue or does this have to do with the PRAM?

Almost sounds like it might be blown capacitors in your PSU or on the logic board if it's shutting down half way through the boot process.

Have you tried re-seating RAM/video card/PCI cards?
