Snow Leopard Sleep and Shutdown Issues.
I just updated my 2006 (White) 20" iMac from Leopard to Snow Leopard. What I have found is that the sleep function and power off from the apple menu has problems. The sleep shuts the machine off for about 3 seconds and then restarts. the power off command shuts the computer off then it immediately re-boots and starts. My only option is the hold the power switch on the back and force a shut down. I did not have this problem with Leopard.
Is this a Snow leopard issue? Power saver settings are at Apple Default. (2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo. 1gb Ram OSX Ver. 10.6.2) Thanks.

May be other problems in play here, but I would start by using Onyx to force a rebuild of the Spotlight Index. Once the Spotlight metadata file becomes corrupt or severely fragmented weird things can and do happen.
USB or even FireWire peripherals can also be at fault. EDIT: Rebuilding the index can take awhile so just walk away from your computer until the process is complete.
