I think there must be some configuration issues with your system.
I downloaded the video, double-clicked it, it opened in Quicktime and I could see the entire video load. I did a Command-I to bring up the Inspector, which informs me it's a H264 video codec with AAC stereo audio at 22.050 Khz sampling rate. All perfectly playable stuff by any competent Mac video player, and Perian will have installed a H264 codec onto your system. I hit play, and watched the entire video from start to finish. I clicked on the timeline, randomly accessing various parts from start to finish, which can cause video apps to crash with Flash files. No problem. I then began scrubbing the video rapidly, which is another great way to crash a player while playing a Flash file. No problem. I will repeat what I said earlier: Read the docs that are on the Perian codec collection site and REMOVE the codecs they tell you to remove before installing. " ... Please consider removing obsolete QuickTime Components: FFusion, Xvid Delegate, 3ivX, DivX, XviD, msmpeg4v1, msmpeg4v2, AviImporter, EX_M4S2, and Casio AVI Importer. ..." If you retain any of those, Perian will not work properly. It's as simple as that. Update to the latest Flash Player or check to see if yours is the most current. It might be worth reminding people that most previous versions of Flash are vulnerable to a serious security vulnerability. No one should be using them. The current version (for OSX 10.5x at least) is 10.0.22.87. If I open it in VLC, the video portion will not load. VLC's error console (don't you guys have this stuff enabled?) tells me it's looking for a fourcc codec "undf". Which basically means it does not know what the codec is supposed to be. However, because QuickTime can and VLC cannot play it, this gives us a hint that it's a proprietary codec, because if it was an open source codec, VLC could probably play it (VLC plays the audio portion fine). Mplayer does not recognize it as a video file at all, again suggesting it's a proprietary codec and not an open source one. FLVthing plays the file fine. SWF & FLV Player plays the file fine. Both FLVthing and SWF & FLV Player use the Adobe FLV Player itself to play video. QuickTime gave the best results; the others were pixellated and blocky. I then began removing the codecs in my Quicktime folder ( at: /Library/Quicktime) one at a time and restarting Quicktime and loading the movie. When I got to the Perian plugin and moved it to the desktop, the video could no longer be played. Replacing the Perian plugin and the movie played perfectly in QuickTime. So, there are your clues.
