Replacing a power supply on a G4 PowerMac 400mghz

From a few G4 PM's that I picked up cheap, I'm trying t get one working. Some don't power up at all and some the fan comes on but no other signs of "life". Anyhow, I managed to switch a PS from one to the other and get it working but it was a tough job getting it out of one unit and into the other and I figure I must be doing it wrong. I undid the cables and pulled the PS out and back in with lots of force to get it pass the optical drives and lock mechanism. I couldn't figure out how to undo the screw or fastener on the back of the back cover Apple logo (thinking if I went thru the other side it might be easier) or how to remove the optical drives. Did a search on Google and EveryMac.com, and Apple but all I found was info on the PowerMac MDD, so any help would be appreciated....

I am in the process of retiring a fully working G4 400 if your interested. It has a Gig of Ram and a 10GB and 30 GB HD. I even still have the original Keyboard but the Puck (um I mean mouse) is long gone. Not sure what it is worth to you but if you are interested send me a PM.

Very simple to remove an optical drive (and zip drive) from a G4 sawthoot G4. First you have to remove the optical drive front bezel on the front of the case. To do it push on the two pastic tabs that hold the bezel in the case. The tabs are the same color than the bezel. The bezel will then go out from the right side. Just pull on the bezel to take it off completely. Once the bezel is out you'll see two philips screws that hold the optical drive and zip drive bracket. Take off the two screws, disconnect the power cables and data cables rear of the two drives then pull the bracket out of the case. That's it....

OK NP, Just trying to give the old girl a good home. Or at least give her parts a good home and know she was useful to someone else.
