Quicktime Pro and .AVI files??

I recently upgraded my mac and installed Quicktime Pro but it doesn't play my AVI movie files which used to play on my old mac? Any idea's? I don't remember installing any additional software or plug ins with my previous mac.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I just installed the perian codecs for quicktime and it now plays a number of video types. You should give it a try.

MOV and AVI are simply containers for the video. Likely just missing some codecs to play the movies back. I'd play the movie on the original Mac, and under the Window or View menu I believe, view movie properties, which will list the codecs utilized.

From there you should be able to download the rest.

This codec set works wonders! Much better than the DivX codecs I had installed - less video stuttering.
