Converting Videos to the right format

DV seems to be the only format that iMove will take. Wait, here's the reason :
I converted some strange mpeg-2 files to multiple formats, and only DV seems to be working fine with iMovie. It's obvious that the original format is causing problems.

However, I'm forced to put it in a 16:9 format and the image seems kinda enhanced in someway? Everything is yellow-er.
Is that normal for DV format? I'm no professional so I don't know.

Also, what would be the best format to convert this to a iMovie-friendly format? :

I'll let you try!
Oops that should be in troubleshooting. My bad.

DBerG - If you purchase the MPEG-2 Playback plug in it will let you import MPEG 2 files into any QuickTime based application. I haven't done it since iMovie 3 and Panther however, but it should still work.

It's $30 CDN. If you're looking for a cheaper work around have your tried ffmpegX?

I tried ffmpegx and converted them to DV. iMovie does not affect the gamma or anything, like Quicktime does.
Weird.

Didn't know about that plug in.
I may look into it if I dive into the movie industry later on, thanks.

It plays fine here on quicktime.
I exported it from quicktime as a dv file and imported it into imovie without a problem.
It looks yellow/green because you are inside under fluorescent lighting and didn't white balance.
go dv 4:3
