iCal read only ???

Don't know what happened iCal now tells me that it is read only.

I can no longer make entries into iCal. Luckily I can enter stuff through my Treo, but I do want to take this Read Only thing OFF. How ?

Why did this change?

I run iCal v2.0 (built 1024) on Tiger 10.4. No apparent change from before and after state of the problem (obviously there must be a cause, I know!)

I did restart my machine after running a Repair Permissions (would it have helped?).

Thanks for helping out.
C.

I had the same issue. I believe I fixed it by renaming the iCal data files. How did you transfer over your data files from Panther? They even go in different places now.

Wink ical read only

Same thing happened to me after the most recent software / mobile me updates. Someone suggested a solution to me that worked. Go into you applications, highlight the ical icon, then click on Get Info. Change the permission from system, back to your user name. It worked right away for me.

Good Luck

Thanks, lirpalu

I've been going nuts trying to figure this problem out. Searched fruitlessly though Apple support. then I came here [kicks self for not doing that first] and found your solution. Worked right away. Thanks again.

I think a simple "Repair Permissions" run would have solved the problem.

I have the impression that the OP did run permission repair.

Yeah, sorry, I really should have clarified that as a permissions repair run from another disk (hard drive or DVD), which can sometimes be more helpful than running it from the same drive you're booted from.

But apparently a better solution was found and worked, so never mind me.
