Angry iMovie keeps crashing and no sound in web

I'm really frustrated. Because it's way past 9pm, I can't call Apple Care. I'll call them tomorrow but I feel I really need to vent. Maybe someone can help me in the meantime.

I bought the Canopus D/V converter (ADVC 110) and followed all instructions on connecting it, turning it on, setting it up, etc. But nothing gets captured in iMovie.

Now iMovie doesn't work properly. when I try to access Preferences, I get no response. No menu. Nothing. I click and nothing happens. When iMovie opens up, it automatically opens up my last movie project which is nothing because I tried to capture video: all I get is that blue screen saying "Camera playing". I'm not even using iMovie to control the camera.

So after iMovie opens up 'My Great Movie', I try to open a new project-- but it crashes. I have to send Apple a report. So i do. in the mean time, I'm stuck with an expensive converter and a powerbook that won't even let me hear sound on websites! -- in Safari, Firefox, and IE (I posted this question in the Switcher's thread).

What the heck is going on with my computer??

It's a Powerbook G4 (rev d) and I'm using Mac OS X (I have the latest software update and security update) , iLife 2005 so I'm assuming it's iMovie 05. I'm new at Mac, so I have no clue how to fix these two problems.

How much ram and HD space do you have and have you run any maintenance lately.

If you have installed new ram that may be a problem - it certainly sounds like you have some maintenance issues - run Onyx or MacJanitor.

It helps to know exactly what Powerbook you have, how much ram and drive and what OS version when you ask for help.
