I've been trying to tidy up my Firefox bookmarks since I have multiple copies of folders of imported bookmarks. I've tried to delete the excess folders but I keep getting unresponsive script messages and I can't delete them.
At this point, I would like to get a copy of Firefox and start fresh, without any bookmarks. How do I do this? ( I've tried to go to ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/ to remove the existing bookmarks but there is no "Firefox/Profiles" there.) I've done an internet search but haven't come up with any answers that work.
My next step would be to trash the Firefox App by using something like AppCleaner (which is free), Download AppCleaner (Mac) then empty the trash. Then download a fresh new copy of Firefox Mozilla Firefox (Mac) - Download and start anew. You could then import only the bookmarks you want, or just start fresh.
You could try: Finder menu, Go To Folder, and type in, /Users/your account name/Library/Mozilla/Profiles/default

I'm currently on OS 10.6.8 and Firefox 10.0.2.
I can guarantee you that if you download and install either or both "EasyFind" and "Find Any File" (both Must Haves IMO) and do a search on 'Firefox', 'Profiles' and or 'bookmarks' or 'bookmark' and maybe use 'type is Folder' options, you'll find the appropriate stuff to Trash.
Maybe quit FF while you do your "seek and destroy" mission.
I've very seldom ever had them fail when doing such sleuthing.
In (your home)/Library/Application Support/ , there is a Firefox folder. Inside the folder is a subfolder Profiles, which has all the settings, bookmarks etc. of Firefox. Drag this folder to Trash.
Another file to remove is the preference file. You can find it in (your home)/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist .
Once you have these two files placed in Trash and install a new copy of Firefox, that might do the trick.
