Family calendar

I hope I'm just missing the easy way to do this...what I want is to be able to enter the kid's sports schedules (hockey, soccer, etc) ONCE and have it show up on:
- my Mac
- my iPhone
- my wife's iPad
- my son's iPod Touch
- bonus if it will sync to my son's BlackBerry.

I read up on CalDav and thought that if I created a shared calendar on Google Calendar, then all of us should be able to link to that and automatically sync. So far, iCal on my Mac shows the shared calendar. Those events, however, didn't sync to my iPhone. I have tried to set up the iPhone and my wife's iPad to access the Google calendar. Both devices accept the new account (seems to verify that the device can access Google) but then NO events show up in either calendar. My Mac is on 10.6.8; the iOS devices are on 5.0.1. I don't want to run Lion or use iCloud, at this point.

I'm open to alternate suggestions. Other services?

Craig

This should work. If you setup the account on all devices as a CALDav account with the proper email address and pw. I do this with a couple of calendars and have read/write access to all of the calendars from both iOS and Mac devices. (you can also set it up for read only access)
You could also use iCloud for this, but so far I haven't see a reason to switch away from using Google cal as the host.

The easy way to do this is with iCloud. Just create an Apple ID and share it across your computers and devices.

I guess you don't want to do it the easy way!

I went back and re-read the Google instructions and found another page that I'd overlooked:

https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect

This allowed me to enable my iPhone. Now I just need to figure out my wife's iPad and son's Touch...
