i have an epson stylus color 860 inkjet printer.
i recently switched from an imac dv se to a 12" powerbook.
the printer had been unplugged for most of the summer, and i plugged it into my powerbook. it is supposedly supported by os x, so i went to print to it. it was initially recognized, but it didn't print. the print command went all the way through print center, but nothing ever actually printed. i restarted the albook, and it was never recognized again.

anybody have any solutions?

I have different printers in my OS 10.1.5 library printers
folder, I know it's not the same as 10.2, But...Did you
check your library folder for the Printers.
(See if the driver is there)
You can also change printers in Page Setup,
I think the default is "Any Printer".

Hope that helps.

there are no drivers.
i went to the epson site and they said the printer is supported from within os x, therefor they don't offer drivers.

You can give Gimp Print a try, your printer is on their supported printer list. http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net

You're right...I was a little quick on the draw there.
They aren't drivers, What I have in my Printer folder for
Epson is a SC860.plugin, Along with a vast array of others.

P.S.
If you are going to use Gimp print then read the
comments left by others and don't download the beta
version. (4.3.18)

i have the sc860.plugin
i'm not too keen on the gimp print. it seems unreliable.
i'm a bit peeved that it's supported by the os, but it doesn't work.

Sniper, I have an Epson 740 and use it mostly in OS 9. It will not even show up in the chooser if any of its inks have run dry, which is really annoying if one of the colours has run out and I need only black.

Check the ink levels through Epson's icons at the top of the page-print setup window.

i can't get any readings through the page set up window, because i can't select the printer. none of the lights on the printer are red, though, so i don't think any of the ink tanks are dry.
