desperately seeking help. looking for someone who can help try to restore a wordpress website or at least remove the offending page so that an index page can be put up.

long story short - received a call from a friend who informed me that his website had been hacked. my skill set is just not up to this challenge - therefore reaching out to fellow ehMac members for guidance and assistance.

Why not use the Wordpress online live tech experts themselves:

Programming questions? Ask a programmer and get answers ASAP

They can likely clear this up in minutes to get the offending material down.

Are you able to login via FTP?

If you are, then you should be able to delete the offending page and replace it with a temporary notice.

If you aren't able to login via FTP, then you'll need to contact his provider ASAP to reset the passwords. It's worth reporting the break-in to them anyway.

yes, i was able to log in and tried replacing the index file. no luck. the good news is that a fellow ehMacer has stopped the bleeding. helped put up a temporary holding page and has been kind enough to help fix the issues.

this place rocks!!
