Can't log in!

I dunno wtf is going on, but my computer was idle for a few minutes so it decided to ask for a password, which I just set.... but it's not recognizing it!

I don't like Lion at all. How can I log in now without an OS disc to boot from to reset the password?!

I REALLY don't feel like downloading the darn OS and writing it to a USB stick right now... I'm supposed to be going to sleep but I need that machine for school tomorrow but if I can't log in I'm screwed!

EDIT: argghhh.... wtf. i forced restart and my password worked at the login just fine. so for some stupid reason, the password is different for when the screen goes black and it logs me out?

can someone please explain what this moronic OS is doing so I can turn it off?

Now all we need is a real honest to God virus and the Apple drive to make Windozers feel right at home will be complete.

My first reaction to Lion remains the same. Install it, create a complete multi-layered recovery strategy, then use the computer.

I have heard mentioned else where on this forum that Lion allows you create a recovery partition on the HD for just such an occasion. Had you done that?

Otherwise be sure that Caps Lock has not been accidentally triggered and also make sure a modifier key (option or shift) is not stuck in the depressed position.

Do NOT Touch this computer!!! Touching this computer WILL cause irreversible brain damage.

There is nothing the OP has to do - Lion creates a recovery partition when it is installed.

Yep, I was careful to check the caps lock and made sure I was pressing the right keys - the password just didn't work.

I can't find anywhere in system settings that would have a password different from the login/admin password, so for now I just had to turn that function off (require password from screensaver or inactivity). I would like to know why my password doesn't work though for that.
