Usb transfer dreadfully slow

Hey guys
I got a psp with memory card.. connected the system to my Imac to transfer items... when I first got it, it worked ok.. today now when I try it the items are transferring but at an un believably slow rate ie) 128 mb took 30 MINs via usb.

Any suggestions? I have tried reboot of mac, disconnecting the usb and turning off psp.....

thanks in advance
Jim

Were subsequent transfers since the initial slow one also so slow?

I believe flash cards are similar to SSDs in that they must erase whole blocks of data before they can be re-written; this will drastically reduce write speeds on a card that has been mostly filled, particularly if that data has become fragmented over time. In addition you may have to empty your trash with the PSP connected to free up space from anything that has been deleted by your iMac. Have you tried re-formatting the memory card or even erasing the free space?
