Powerbook G4 1.67 Ghz running Leopard 10.5.8. Everything was cool until about a week ago when a couple of strange things started happening.
1. I have two accounts which I switch back and forth from (home & work). Restarting automatically logs me into the home account. If I log out, I get to the log in screen but can't see the log-in accounts (i.e. home and work). Pressing the power button brings up the "restart", "sleep", "cancel", "shutdown" buttons. If I simply switch users (to work account) and then log out, everything is as is should be - I can see the log in screen with the account log ins.
2. Safari (5.0.2) was extremely slow to start up. It would hang on the homepage (apple.ca) for about 1-2 minutes before finally loading. Firefox was fine. I cleared cache, reset Safari, changed dns servers, banged my head on the wall... nothing. I then repaired permissions a couple of times and ran Onyx maintenance. It cured the start up issue, but Safari goes to the "safari welcome page" upon startup. I opened Safari prefs and changed it to "http://store.apple.com/ca/", but every time I close it and re-open it goes back to the "Safari Welcome Page". I've cleared cache and such, but no such luck.
Any advice and input on the above matters is appreciated.

Issue # 1 seems to have been resolved... repaired persmissions and ran Onyx again and that seemed to do the trick. Issue # 2 is driving me batty... must be a preference file that needs to be zapped. Safari is now opening fine, but everytime it opens it goes to the "Safari Welcome Page". I've cleared cache, cleared history, changed home page under Safari prefs, etc. Any suggestions is welcome.

in Safari 4x prefs, in addition to the home page there is a setting that says "new windows open to:" this needs to be set to HomePage as well. May or may not be the same in Safari 5.
TGF Camino.
