I recently bought a LG 8400B 40x12x40 drive for a G4 350, and when I got it installed, the machine freezes on startup, extensions on or not. (Freezes just as extensions start loading, or with shift key down, just before desktop appears). I am using 9.2.2, and am at a loss, so any ideas from anyone would be appreciated.

Thanks

Open you machine back up and make sure that you have the correct master/slave settings on the IDE chain. If you used the Cable Select setting, change it so that the Bus has a correct master/slave drive.

Best guess on supplied info.

Your issue here tells me you have a PCI ( Yikes) G4 one of our favourite boxes. Take the LG back as it will not work and it is not a master slave issue but a firmware problem that extends to nearly all of the 32 and up burners for the Blue & White and G4 Yikes ( same motherboard).
There IS NO WORK AROUND even installing a faster IDE card in the PCI bus causes a different set of issues.
Read your private message and contact us for options but don't beat your head on the LG - once it got past the 24s which do work in Blues/Yikes - none of them are useable except in Sawtooth and up G4s.
Believe me we spend hours hunting compatible burners and buy 30 at a time when we find one. Sticking it in a FW case works but =$
