battery for 300 mhz clamshell ibook -- where to get ?

looking to buy a good battery for clamshell ibook preferably to be picked up in GTA area. anybody buy one recently ? if your buying experience was good please let me know.

About a year ago, I bought a clamshell battery from a GTA-based vendor on ebay. The battery was mailed to me. (Vendor refused to provide local pickup.) The new battery was not recognized on my clamshell. I did various resets but no luck. My old batteries were all recognized on two different clamshells but not the new one. so I notified the seller who sent me an RMA and I mailed the battery back to him for exchange. My mistake i guess is that i did not send it back registered.

in any event i emailed the vendor a fair few times and received no emails back. I could not get an address for the vendor where he could be reached. I could not find a phone number.

I never did receive back another battery.

I just left the issue but now I have decided to try to get another battery. so any looking for suggestions

thanks.

I went to a place called Battery Refill in downtown Toronto. They can repack any battery that has even a little bit of a charge in it.

OWC carries the Newer Technology NuPower 74 Watt-Hour Battery for all Apple iBook G3 "Clamshell" models. Quite a bit outside the GTA, but OWC ships worldwide.

thank you for replies so far.

Sonspot --as described in the post, I got burned on ebay so am reticent to approach that flame again for this item.

MacDoc --will contact you if nothing found closer to home.

Macfury -- have emailed the battery refill place and am awaiting a response from them.

Although I recommended laptopcharge.com (which is the same as battdepot.ca)

Laptop batteries for less, shipped, within Canada

there have been a lot of problems reported, not the least of which is they want you to pay return shipping if there is something wrong with the battery or even if they send you the wrong one. See also the debacles here:

Laptop batteries for much less shipped within Canada; added another BC battery seller

Macfury : You stated that you went to Battery Refill -- would you care to elaborate -- ie, for which laptop did you get a battery ? How many hours per charge? is that better or worse than your original oem battery? If you have already gone through the battery refill battery, did the battery refill battery last as long or longer than your oem battery?

Thanks.

i ordered one from

Laptop Batteries / Notebook Batteries / Camcorder Batteries / Digital Camera Batteries. Low price and fast delivery.

in 2006, the battery now at 847 cycles (BluBerry iBook (clammy)). still holds about 5 hours, used to get more like 8 - 9.

I highly recommend them.
