iPod won't sync

I have an older iPod (5th gen) that won't sync anymore with iTunes (9.0.2). I get a message that says "the iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-50)". I wasn't able to find any help on Apple's website. Any ideas?

Thanks

What computer are you using? Which operating system?

Is it a PC?

Restore the iPod to factory settings (via iTunes) and re-sync.

That didn't work. I have the iPod set to manually sync music, but automatically sync photos from iPhoto. Could that be the problem?

I think I figured it out. My iPhoto library is bigger than the available space on my iPod. Time to get rid of some photos, I guess!

Not at all. You can simply have the last 10 (20, etc) "events" (or albums, etc) synched to the iPod instead of attempting to carry your ENTIRE iPhoto library around.

You could even set up a "smart album" like "all my 4- and 5-star pictures" and have it sync that.

Just some examples.

The only option that iTunes is giving me is to sync my entire library. The other option is dimmed.

I'm back. I plugged in my wife's iPod Classic, and the same thing happened, and her iPod has lots of available space.
I'm beginning to suspect the problem is with iPhoto.

same problem

I am having the same problem. And I don't even sync my photos to the iPod...only music. I have tried everything I can think of but nothing has worked so far. Am interested to see this thread continue...hopefully with an answer that will solve the problem!
