1st gen iPod nano - ordered it the day Steve first pulled one out of his pocket. It's been working fine. I use it for audiobooks and it always sits on a Bose dock/speaker.

Today for the first time, I noticed that when I select a book to listen to, it starts playing the next book in the list.

I dumped everything off the iPod and loaded some different books on - same result. I click on Book A and Book B starts playing (and Book B is displayed on the screen)

Reset a couple of times by holding down the menu and centre buttons, no joy.

Connected iPod to computer and restored (one of the kids had windowized it) now it's back to Mac, restored, software up to date.

Loaded several books.

Click on Book A, Book B plays.

I'm no expert, but if it always plays the second book on your list, why not try putting a blank file (or just a couple of minutes of the book) and make it the first file in the list (number 1 or whatever). Maybe then with book A as the second file, it would play it properly? That's all I can think of.
