Mac Mini Question

Can you attach any kind of monitor to the mac mini? What kind of cable would I need to connect one?

which mac mini do you have? you can pretty much connect any monitor that is dvi or vga-- but you may need a $20 adapter. the only exception would be the apple displays which use the ADC connector (looks like DVI only with round edges). This approach would require a costly adapter, otherwise most monitors should work. Have you bought one/do you have one/what are you thinking of getting?

98% of all VGA or DVI monitors will work fine with a Mac mini. I have run across one or two oddball monitors (one I recall was a 15" LCD made by Acer) that have difficulty syncing the signal from a Mac mini -- I don't recall the details, but it was something about sync-on-green for the mac versus the sync-on-red these monitors were looking for), but that was a while ago and very, very rare.

Get the DVI-VGA adapter (probably came with the mini, actually) and you should be good to go with just about any monitor up to 30" (or more specifically, any monitors up to 1920x1200 resolution).

the current Mac mini - March 2009 - comes with a mini DVI to DVI dongle ONLY
no VGA

To hook up to HD TV - 6' DVI to HDMI cable is needed - @ $20 - Canada Computers and others. AFAIK DVI is not a connection on current HD tV's . HDMI is the standard.
