i've scoured the web thinking i can't be the only one having issues in toast 10 with dual layer disks and i was correct, i've seen similar examples of the same problem with a number of versions of toast. at this point i have way more expensive dual layer coasters than i'd like. i can burn dual layer dvd's with no problem through disk utility and itunes but they bomb out continuously in toast (versions 9, 9.04, and now 10 and 10.0.1). last night i did tried saving as a disk image first and then burning the image to a dl disk in toast and that worked but i shouldn't have to go that route. i've tried a variety of brands of dual layer dvd's thinking that it may be an issue with the media, then i had the optical drive checked by a mac technician and there is nothing wrong with the hardware. i've gotten a variety of error messages. in the beginning i was getting "hardware error" when i hit burn and session bombed out right away without attempting to burn, then lately i'm getting "mac o/s error" at the very end of the burn session when it's reached 100% complete and trying to write the lead out, it hangs here for a longtime until the error message comes up. needless to say this is becoming quite frustrating and expensive to be wasting all these dual layer disks. i've been using toast for years with no issues until now and i'm almost ready to give up on it.
anybody have similar issue? any suggestions?
thanks!
M.

i've actually tried both fuji and verbatim, i do realize that the media matters and i stay away from cheap generic disks, but i've pretty much ruled out the media as the cause in this situation.
Have you checked in Apple Profiler to see which Firmware version your drive uses and then confirmed on the manufacturers website that it supports dual layer?
