Pages - suddenly not working

Hmmm...
Pages 08 will not open any of my Pages documents. It will not open it's own templates either. It is now totally dysfunctional. This is a new phenomenon - since executing Pages update 3.03 with a Software Update on Feb 6 2009.

MBP 2.4, OS 10.5.6, Pages '08 v3.03

There appear to be similar complaints with Pages '09 - but no cases exactly similar to mine reported in Apple forums.
Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
Phil

------------------------------------------------------------
More info...

double clicking on a Pages document launches Pages but not the document itself. No alert is given. Attempting to open a document from the Pages>File>Open also results in nothing: no document window or alert. Starting fresh with Pages>File>New brings up the template selector, but selecting any of the templates produces this alert: "The template “template name.template” could not be opened."

In the same update my Date & Time display settings changed.

The update included Pages update 3.03, iLife Media Browser update 2.0, QuickTime 7.6, Keynote update 4.04, Numbers update 1.03, iDVD update 7.03

Weird.

Luckily, it's trivially easy to reinstall iWork, so I suggest you do that.

Thanks for the suggestion, chas_m - I actually didn't think of that...

However, having re-installed from the disk, Pages still does not work (the other iWork apps still DO work) and, in fact, Pages also shows the latest version number - even after reinstalling.

I'm flummoxed.

Have you used Disk Utility to repair permissions? Sometimes that makes a difference.

Thanks, SINC, I ran Repair Permissions - but that didn't repair the problem.

However, David at Apple Support suggested I remove the preference file "com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist" from my user preferences folder - and that fixed the problem.

Thanks chas_m and SINC for caring!
