Mac Mail won't send

I have a mac email address and the past 2 days my mac mail does not seem to want to send. I can receive but all emails I try to send seem to stop dead.
I have tried repairing permissions with disk utility, I have rebooted, I tried deleting and re-setting my account, I tried to switch ports and nothing.
I am using a Macbook and travel with it often switching servers. OS 10.4.11
Any suggestions?

what's your isp and what outgoing servers are you trying? i will add that it's possible that the server info can get corrupted (don't ask me how) in which case it's often recommended to just delete the account from your mail prefs and then add it again as a new account...

I am using telus as well as Rogers high speed wireless. It is acting up on both.
I do travel and can get on with some other servers. I have deleted the account and re-added it but still nothing

i'm not sure if deleting a mail account will also wipe out the outgoing server from your list so what you might try is adding a new outgoing server naming it something new (like 'rogerstest') but with the same settings that worked before and then seeing if that works... if so then delete the original outgoing server. and since you say you have two isp's, make sure you're using the outgoing server for the one that's providing the broadband service...

If you're using a Mobile Me account (and it seems you've implied that you do), the SMTP server should be "smtp.mac.com" and this works from any Internet connection, as long as you're sending from your Mobile Me account. Mail refusing to send is usually (but not always) caused by an incorrect/invalid SMTP server setting.

Thats what it is and still acting like a liberal (ie: getting nothing done!)

sorry, but it depends on your isp. for bell, you use the apple incoming server but have to use sympatico's outgoing server (same with rogers i believe). so no, i think you need to check what outgoing server you're using... check the help pages for your isp to double check but rogers is something like: smtp.broadband.rogers.com and then it'll add your user name...

No. I'm with Rogers I send via smtp.mac.com with my Mobile Me account because Rogers own SMTP servers never, ever worked. Not once from day one.

It could be that the ISP's are blocking all port 25 traffic (the smtp port) for anything but their own servers, that's a very common setup these days. You have have to use an alternate port, there should be docs for mobileme somewhere that say which alternate port should work .. I don't remember the port numbers off the top of my head but I think it's something like 465 or 587 ...
