Rogers Outgoing SMTP and Mail

My father seems to be having outgoing SMTP issues when sending mail using the Mail App on Rogers. I checked his outgoing mail server settings, and they all sound correct (smtp.broadband.rogers.com). These settings have been working for him on his computer for the past six months or so, until yesterday. His iMac software is up-to-date and he's running OS 10.5.5.

The error he gets says his email address was rejected by the outgoing mail server: smtp.broadband.rogers.com.

Kicker is, he called Rogers Tech Support, and they said they don't support Mac Mail, and gave him the number to Apple Technical Support.

Anyone else having issues sending mail in a similar setup lately?

that sounds correct to me too, but i've read where it's recommended that you delete a mail account and then re-add it if you get this kind of prob... not sure if it's because thee could be a corruption somewhere or what, but it probably wouldn't hurt to start from scratch. you could also remove the plist files while you're at it (put them in the trash but don't empty, when you restart mail it will have re-set preferences, and if that hasn't helped you can always re-use the files that were 'stored' in the trash)

Yeah, that's the next thing I was going to try when i'm there. Just was curious if it was more than an isolated incident. Thanks for the reply.
